Oculus_22

Travelers Rest, SC – Rugged Suppressors is proud to introduce its first entry into the rimfire market, the Oculus 22TM. The Oculus is a modular suppressor featuring class-leading suppression and no first round pop. It allows the user to select the 5.25” standard configuration, or the 3.25” short configuration. To improve accuracy, the Oculus is designed to allow indexing of the baffles with the suppressor body for repeatable return to zero after user servicing.

Made entirely of 17-4 Stainless Steel, the Oculus weighs in at 6.9 ounces in the standard configuration and 4.3 ounces in the short configuration. In addition to 22 LR, the Oculus will suppress 22 Magnum, 17 HMR, 17 WSM and 5.7x28mm, adding to the versatility and utility of this unique suppressor.

“Like our centerfire suppressors, the Oculus is Belt Fed Rated,” said Michael Derdziak, CEO of Rugged. “This gives you the confidence to know that all of our suppressors will hold up to whatever you throw at them. Additionally, we stand behind all of our products with an Unconditional Lifetime Warranty—if you ever have an issue, we will repair or replace it, free of charge. Period.”

Inforce – New Compact and Gen3 Pistol Mounted Lights Introduced

Tuesday, January 17th, 2017

Emissive Energy debuts new APL Glock Compact and new Gen3 APL & APL Glock models

North Kingstown, RI – Emissive Energy Corporation, an industry leader in weapon mounted lighting products, has expanded its APL (Automatic Pistol Lights) product lines today with three new pistol lights including a new compact light and two new Gen3 lights.
The Gen3 APL and APL Glock products continue to be just as lightweight (at just 2.95 ounces) as discovered with their Gen2 predecessors, but now provide new upgrades including 400 lumens. Incredibly powerful yet compact in size, the Gen3 APL integrates with MIL-STD-1913 and Universal rails and features a new glass reinforced polymer body, which offers higher-impact resistance and durability.

The Gen3 APL Glock integrates with Universal rails only. There are two operating modes: constant and momentary and the new products are water resistant and offer a contoured non-slip switch for easy on/off.

Extensively tested for performance, durability and reliability, customers won’t find a more advanced pistol light on the market today.

The APL Glock Compact is a brand new Inforce product providing 200 lumens in its 2.43-inch glass reinforced polymer body.

“Our new APL products are consistent with our vision to continually explore new ways to provide dependable lightweight, high-quality products,” says Matthew S. Wolfe, Vice President of Emissive Energy Corporation. “Our new products offer higher lumens and integrate seamlessly, providing simple, fast mounting with no need for additional tools.”

The Gen3 APL and APL Glock products offer many functional enhancements including:
• Increased lumens from 200 to 400, at just 2.95 ounces
• High efficiency emitter providing up to 1.5 hours of runtime from a single Lithium CR123a battery
• Concentrated, high-intensity beam that fills the field of view for close to mid-range target identification
• Aluminum clamping system for improved strength and durability
• Ambidextrous on-off switch operation
• Textured paddles for improved non-slip grip
• Easy-to-operate lockout system ensuring the light isn’t turned on until the operator is ready

The new APL Glock Compact model offers many features including:
• 200 lumens, at just 1.87 ounces
• High efficiency emitter providing up to 1.5 hours of runtime from a single Lithium CR2 battery
• Completely flush mounting with muzzle of a Glock 19
• Ambidextrous on-off switch operation
• Textured paddles for optimal non-slip grip
• Easy-to-operate lockout system ensuring the light isn’t turned on until the operator is ready

FirstSpear Range Day – Gentex/Ops-Core

Monday, January 16th, 2017

To the left is the Gentex TBH-II MC (Mission Configured) and to the right is the Ops-Core FAST MT (Maritime).  I wanted to give you a little information to help guide those making helmet purchases.

From any angle, they look the same.  Both have the same shape, same suspension system, and same accessories. However, the TBH-II is an aramid ballistic solution and the FAST relies on a Polyethylene solution.  The TBH-II offers 9mm protection at 1400 fps and the FAST offers 9mm protection at 1200 fps, so fairly similar balllistics.  The real differences are in weight and cost.  The TBH-II weighs in at about 2.5 lbs while the FAST helmet is 1.5 lbs, both as configured. Now is the biggest factor for many agencies; the TBH-II is $599 and the FAST is in the $1400-1500 range.

If you’re looking for mission configurability, and the cool guy factor, but are willing to accept higher weight, then you may want to consider the Gentex TBH-II MC.

FirstSpear Range Day – SureFire Institute SFI-15 Lower Receiver

Monday, January 16th, 2017

SureFire Institute has just introduced their new Polymer lower receiver for AR-style rifles.

Developed in conjunction with E3 Arms, they took a look at the internal firing mechanism to improve trigger pull and reset. However, the selector lever can be moved to Safe with the hammer forward or to the rear. The SFI-15 can be stored on Safe no matter what condition the rifle is in, and the weapon can immediately be placed on Safe while dealing with a malfunction.

It weighs 1.1 lbs. I realize many are hesitant to use a polymer lower but SFI says that the material has a tensile strength of 33,500 psi, tensile elongation of 2.5-3.5% and flexural strength of 50,000 psi.
