Noisefighters and 4D Tactical Introduce Heatsync, A Sweat-Wicking, Silver-Embedded Fabric Ear Pad Cover for Headsets

NOISEFIGHTERS and its development partner 4D TACTICAL today announces the public launch of the HEATSYNCTM sweat-wicking, form-fitting fabric ear pad cover for headsets. Heatsync addresses the #1 problem with over-the-ear headsets: in hot weather, there is internal sweat accumulation and excessive heat buildup. A form-fitting cover — made 100% in the U.S.A. from advanced materials including 4D Tactical’s NanoTech silver-embedded, antimicrobial, wicking fabric — is pulled tight over the headset’s existing ear pads. In use, the Heatsync draws perspiration out from the inside of the headset and helps cool the wearer through the evaporative process, while also eliminating the slimy feeling normally associated with pressing wet rubber ear pads against the head in hot weather.

Heatsync is a universal cover designed to fit every headset that uses the industry standard 4″ (102 mm) tall by 3″ (76 mm) wide oval or rectangular ear pads of thicknesses between 0.5″ (12.7mm) and 0.75″ (19mm). A stainless steel expanding spring is included to lock the Heatsync cover to the inside of each cup on the headset and keep the ear cup cavity open. The cover was tested and proven to fit all current headsets from Ops-Core®, Peltor®, Howard Leight®, Sordin®, Walker’s Game Ear®, and many brands of aviation headsets, as well. It may fit other headsets with slightly smaller, larger, or even fully circular ear pads with different thicknesses, as well, due to the stretchable fabric construction. Installation is very fast, easy, and reversible, with no evidence of the cover ever having been attached.

During extreme cold weather use, the cover additionally provides an insulative barrier between the freezing cold rubber ear pads and the user’s face. The Heatsync’s proprietary fabrics are also pleasing to the touch and add a noticeable amount of comfort versus rubber ear pads. The design is fully compatible with either foam-filled or gel-filled ear pads, and its highly-compliant fabric is a perfect fit with Noisefighters’ Sightlines gel-filled ear pads that feature a patented relief cut feature for glasses arms to pass through.

Rheinmetall and Northrop Grumman Agree to Strategic Partnership for Precision-Guided Enhanced Range Artillery Ammunition

Rheinmetall and Northrop Grumman have formalized an agreement to cooperate in the field of precision-guided enhanced range artillery ammunition. Rheinmetall’s South African subsidiary Rheinmetall Denel Munition and Northrop Grumman signed a 10-year strategic partnership agreement to this effect in February 2021. During this period, the two companies plan to cooperate together in order to offer forward-looking ammunition technology to the international market, including the United States, to support future artillery operations.

The partnership will focus, above all, on achieving an enhanced range 155mm artillery round fitted with an integrated M1156 precision guidance kit (PGK), as well as on developing a new 155mm projectile with an improved integrated propulsion system.
In service with a number of armed forces, the M1156 PGK is an inexpensive, immediately available means of enhancing the accuracy of existing types of artillery ammunition. In combination with Rheinmetall’s V-LAP projectile, which currently achieves the longest maximum range of any conventional artillery projectile, the M1156 PGK results in a swiftly available solution, proven in numerous combat operations, for long-range precision-guided munitions. The longest range ever attained by a conventional artillery projectile currently stands at 76 kilometres, achieved in 2019 at the Alkantpan test range with a non-NATO Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding (JBMOU)-conforming 52-calibre gun and RDM 155mm projectile.

The armed forces of more than twelve nations now use enhanced range Rheinmetall artillery ammunition from South Africa. The integration of tried-and-tested technologies results in a quick increase in capabilities and combat power. Furthermore, other NATO nations and non-JBMOU users can adopt this solution based on Rheinmetall’s existing artillery portfolio.

Rheinmetall and Northrop Grumman have conducted testing of the V-LAP projectile variants and PGK in South Africa early in 2021, and are intending to demonstrate it later at the US Army proving ground in Yuma, Arizona.

Griffin Armament Announces The SR-RIGID M-LOK Rail Family

Griffin Armament® M-LOK compatible SR-RIGID™ rails (Suppressor Ready – Rigid) allow up to 1.5” outside diameter silencers to be mounted inside the octagonal M-LOK rail. This provides suppressor aficionados a sleek, and compact overall length to AR15 type firearms.

Design objectives of this rail were to provide a suppressor compatible rail, with increased rigidity and durability over similar weight and profile current market options. A custom extrusion provides significant internal reinforcements to reduce flex when loading the carbine on the rail.

“We understand the importance of low light targeting with IR lasers and other low light targeting systems. Reducing flex with our ID reinforcement spars reduces POI shift related to rail mounted lasers and night vision clip-ons. These rails offer more accuracy (less flex) than their competition which means more lethality under hours of darkness.”

These reinforcements provide rigid mounting for IR laser aimers ensuring minimal POI shift when torque is applied to fore-grip type accessories, or when loads are applied to the rail such as practical shooting off barricades or when loading bipods for rapid follow up shots. Internal practical testing showed substantial reductions in POI shift with laser aimers versus competing “slim rails” that lacked this notable product feature.

The new SR-RIGID™ rails features a close tolerance, heavy-duty, 7075 aluminum, T-6, type 3 hard coat anodized finish. The barrel nut can be easily installed to 35-85 ft/lbs using the included Griffin Armorers Wrench. The new slip fit clamp design is extremely user friendly and does not require any shims or special timing methods. The clamp geometry in the rear section of the rail is low profile and ergonomically pleasing even for long durations of extended carry at static security positions. Flat head T15 torx screws should be tightened to 25/in pounds. The included 45 degree picatinny QD sling swivel can be installed on the top picatinny rail to the desired position of the end user. M-LOK flats on each 45 degree surface allow for mounting of your favorite M-LOK accessories. A contiguous picatinny top rail ensures repeatable and accurate mounting for night vision and thermal systems.

TNVC and Forward Controls Design Panel, Cable Management-MLOK (PCM-MLOK)

Designed as a simple product to solve a simple problem, the PCM-MLOK provides remote switch cable management for mission critical accessories. In the past, end-users have either had to choose between placing accessories in less-than-optimal positions to locate the controls where they could be reached, or have had to use zip-ties, electrical tape, camoform fabric, and a myriad of other methods to manage device control cables.

The TNVC/FCD PCM-MLOK is a machined aluminum multi-directional cable management device that affixes to any MLOK-Compatible interface, and can be used to both route and protect remote device activation cables.

Unlike zip-ties or most other cable management solutions available on the market, the PCM-MLOK is designed to fully protect as much of the exposed cable as possible, preventing the “Night Monster” from grabbing and snagging exposed cable, causing damage to the cable, switches, or device connectors themselves. Nevertheless, creating a product that improves on cable management better than zip-ties is a more difficult task than it sounds like!

When seeking out a partner to develop a cable management system, we reached out to Forward Controls Design, a company known for its focus on function over form, and for taking the smallest and simplest components of the AR system that most people take for granted, and thoroughly studying their function, and finding ways to improve them.

The result of this collaboration is the TNVC/FCD PCM-MLOK, machined from aircraft grade aluminum billet by Arson Machine Co., which not only provides the best protection for remote switch cables, but allows for an open architecture, promoting airflow and head dissipation. The PCM also features Forward Controls Design signature “All Angles” dimpled surface texture, which both provides effective gripping surface from (get this) all angles, while also increasing surface area, further encouraging heat dissipation and mitigation.

While the use of machined aluminum makes the PCM more expensive than many other cable management solutions, it provides considerable functional improvements to other options, while largely eliminating what was once the “weak link” in visual augmentation systems device integration.

The internal cable channels can support cables up to 0.140? in diameter, accepting most common Surefire, Crane/Insight, and Unity Tactical remote switch cables, and the internal cable routing features a 0.150? radius to allowing cables to be routed at 90 degree angles without putting unnecessary stress on the cable with sharp kinks and corners.

Deckers X Lab Congratulates 2021 Best Ranger Competition Winners!

Deckers X LAB would like to congratulate 1LT Vincent Paikowski and 1LT Alastair Keys from the 75th Ranger Regiment on their 1st Place finish in the grueling 2021 David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition (BRC) which ended earlier today.

Deckers X LAB is the “skunk works” or Innovation Lab of the Deckers Corp; the parent behind such brands as UGG, Hoka, and Sanuk.

Last week saw the launch of www.dxltac.com showcasing a new range to deliver in September of this year. Deckers took lessons learned from years of shoe making and translated that into a high end technical military footwear range. Two boots will launch in September; an AR670-1 compliant boot, as well as a specialized fin friendly water boot for all things water, be it OTB, VBSS, or GOPLATS. Testing and evaluation has been off the charts, those doing the T&E have them to be some of the best product ever tested and worn.

Since Deckers X LAB works on all “skunk works” product for all of their brands, the current web site is a bit intermingled with other products. It will be 100% tactical upon the launch in September.

GunMag Warehouse Launches Training Division

Carrying a gun is (or should be) a gestalt of conditions, not just a mastery of marksmanship. It’s as much about being a good human being, controlling emotions, and practicing compassion as it is honing weapon manipulation skills and practicing situational awareness. A responsible armed citizen doesn’t need to be a Tier One Ninja, but does need to be ready for the hard part.

And the hardest part of any defensive shoot occurs prior to and after the trigger press.

GunMag Warehouse is proud to announce the launch of GunMag Training.

GMT will be the instructional arm of GMW. It will be led by Daniel Shaw, formerly of Shaw Strategies and the USMC. Additional cadre members will be announced in the coming months.

GMT’s mission will be to prepare those who carry a gun for such difficulties and to promote a well-trained, reasoned, and humanistic armed citizenry. It will also be practicing civic responsibility by setting aside slots in each course for law enforcement officers from the local (-ish) area.

Because of GMT’s atypical approach, students will gain more than a high level of technical proficiency.

GunMag Training courses will address such things as:

• Life safety as it relates to the armed citizen and the use of force

• Pragmatic expectation of what happens after an Event

• Awareness of positional and locational engagement

• Practical understanding of the spherical environment

• Practical understanding of the public environment

• Practicable marksmanship on demand not command

Shaw, a retired Marine infantry leader and combat veteran, will pull from his extensive military career and a lifetime of experience to combine tactical acumen with the moral ethos appropriate to carrying a firearm. He has instructed civilians, LEOs, and military personnel from all walks of life across the United States.

Looking for a way to bond with the kids while helping prepare them for life, and simultaneously develop the next generation of Second Amendment proponents? Take them to a class and train together.

Courses will begin almost immediately with firearms training classes in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and others in Ohio (including Shaw’s seventh year teaching at the Ohio Tactical Officers Association Training Conference). Additional classes and locations will be announced soon.
