Watershed Waterproof Utility Pouches

November 6th, 2020

Watershed makes a wide variety of dry bags for recreational, industrial and military use. These are three of their utility pouches which are offered as part of their Maritime Backpack Suite. They include the Swimmer’s Utility Bag, Manpack Radio Bag, and Waterproof Individual Pouch.

The SUB is designed to carry the M53 protective mask or a similar sized item. The WIP accommodates a MK48 box mag, IFAK, or similar items. The Radio Bag will fit the AN/PRC-117G and accessories.

Regardless of size and intended use, they all have several design features in common. Watershed bags are made from abrasion resistant polyurethane coated fabric with seams sealed via RF welding. They also use a YKK Aquaseal waterproof zipper, and oral inflate/deflate valve with cover.

There is also a PALS compatible mounting system as well as both horizontal and vertical belt loops. Drainage points are also built-in at the ashes of the mounting system. There’s also a laser cut retainer for the T-shaped zipper pull so it doesn’t inadvertently open if caught on something.

These bags are all Berry compliant and available for sale to government customers, regardless of stock notices on the website.

New MOA and Metric Targets by Rite in the Rain, Precision in Zeroing

November 6th, 2020

TACOMA, WA – November 5, 2020 – Rite in the Rain® is proud to announce two new zeroing targets, Target product numbers: #9129 (MOA) and #9130 (MIL).

Both targets are produced on proprietary Rite in the Rain® cardstock paper, removing any concern of targets falling apart under adverse weather conditions. In addition, the targets present clean bullet holes for ease of analyzing shot groups or scoring targets.

Rite in the Rain® Product #9129 (NSN 6920-01-660-0348), is an improved A8 Target, based on the original US Army A8 featured in Training Circular (TC) 3-22.9. Designed to make subtle, yet substantive improvements to an already superior design. The improvements are functional and aesthetic. The # 9129 target design is subdued to present a cleaner target presentation for shooters, proving a better focus on the center of visible mass and providing a more useable scoring target for short range marksmanship training. The zeroing adjustment grid is upgraded, using true minute of angle (MOA) in place of shooter MOA. This allows greater fidelity in making sight adjustments. #9129 offers a more precise zero, with less time and ammunition expended. The final improvement is the addition of directional arrows, to show sight correction directions.

Rite in the Rain® Product #9130, eliminates the need for Soldiers to calculate their mean point of impact (MPI), adjustment in MOA, and conversion into mils. The .1 mil grid is designed to facilitate zeroing aiming devices with adjustments in mils for the following weapons:

-AN/PEQ-15/15A, M-249 Iron Sights

-M145 Machine Gun Optic

-SIG Tango 6 optic used with the M-110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDM-R)

Product #9129 can be ordered by NSN 6920-01-660-0348, through normal supply channels.

Both Product #9129 and #9130 can also be ordered through GSA advantage or directly from Rite in the Rain® at riteintherain.com.

Elistair Unveils Long-Endurance Orion 2 Tethered Drone for Military, Security, and Industrial Use

November 6th, 2020

LYON, France — Elistair, a leader in tethered drone solutions, announced today the development of its new Orion 2 tethered unmanned system for military, government, and industry users. Unlike other multi-rotor drones, the Orion 2 hexacopter delivers round-the-clock surveillance for up to 24 hours at a time, making it a true persistent surveillance platform.

“For example, we made it IP54; we optimized the lifespan of the components, including the motors; and we added a safety battery that could recharge in the air.”

“Small, unmanned multi-rotor systems are great if you want a hover-and-stare capability, but they’re also notoriously short on battery life,” said Timothée Penet, CTO and co-founder of Elistair. “Powered tethering stations, like our Safe 2 and Ligh-T 4, offer a solution by increasing a platform’s time in the air—and that’s great for many missions. But what if you need to be on station for a whole day?”

That is where Elistair’s own Orion 2 comes into the picture.

A lightweight yet extremely durable hexacopter, the Orion 2 is designed as a quick-deploy system (automated push-button takeoff and landing) that can stay in the air for 24 hours—something that, previously, could only be done by a helium-filled tactical aerostat, which was a much larger platform and came with a very complicated logistical train.

“We developed redundancies at every level to ensure that the Orion 2 could stay up that long,” said Pierre-Moana Levesque, R&D Director at Elistair. “For example, we made it IP54; we optimized the lifespan of the components, including the motors; and we added a safety battery that could recharge in the air.”

The new Orion 2 is an improvement over the original Orion drone, which has already proven itself with international customers. The Orion helped secure the Ryder Cup in September 2018, flying over crowds of 300,000 attendees for 8 to 11 hours a day, and has been employed by the French police, British military, and Singaporean government.

With its micro-tether of 330 feet (100 meters), the Orion 2 flies higher than its predecessor and surveils more ground. It can also carry up to 2kg (4.5 pounds) of payload, so it can serve simultaneously as an ISR and telecom platform. The Orion 2 can also stream georeferenced electro-optical and infrared imagery at the same time, and it can deploy 4G/5G communications nodes thanks to a new fiber optics cable option.

“The Orion 2 tethered drone is a clear advance over the very capable Orion in terms of persistence, logistical footprint, and data control. We are thrilled by this product launch,” said Guilhem de Marliave, CEO and co-founder of Elistair.
