SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 4, 2019 – AeroVironment, Inc. Grey Ghost Precision MKII Rifles now shipping with Timney Triggers

November 4th, 2019

Wallace, IDGrey Ghost Precision is excited to announce a new partnership with Timney Triggers for their MKII Lineup of AR-15 and AR-10 rifles.

Since the very first inception of the combat born Heavy .308 rifle, GGP has been very particular when it comes selecting triggers. After all, when buying a top tier complete black rifle, one would expect it to include a premium trigger as well. At least that’s how the minds behind Grey Ghost Precision feel. “When it comes to triggers, we’ve always gone straight to the end user and asked them what they wish was in their duty rifle” says Jason Curns, VP of Firearms at GGP. “All of our rifle offerings are designed for peak performance, whether it’s in the hands of a U.S. Ranger, or a 3-Gun Competitor. Both users demand a reliable trigger that is smooth and crisp with no creep, and a short reset for quick follow up shots.”

GGP MKII Light 556 Rifle

GGP MKII Light 556 Rifles now come with the Timney AR-15 Competition Trigger

GGP rifles have seen a few different bang switches over the course of their history. As one of the minds behind the very first GGP, Jason has tested dozens of offerings over the years. He says “as trigger companies improve their products and roll out packages specifically tuned for different types of shooters, we ourselves constantly test the performance and longevity of each offering, in a conscience effort to keep our rifles extremely accurate and modern.”  When GGP evaluates triggers, they don’t just dump a few mags into a steel trap and call it a day. They put professional fingers on their rifles to ensure that every stage and every feature of the trigger is exactly perfect for application. As someone who squeezes more triggers than most, Team Grey Ghost 3-Gun Team Captain JP Sullivan says “I like a drop-in trigger system that has a trigger between 2.5 to 3.5 pounds. Single stage with an extremely short reset is a must, and absolutely no over travel! There’s a lot you can do to your rifle for that competitive edge, but a great trigger is super critical to good hits and winning times.”

GGP MKII Heavy 308

GGP MKII Heavy 308 rifles also now come with a Timney AR Competition Trigger

As of Q4 of 2019, Grey Ghost Precision is now installing Timney Triggers in all their hand-assembled MKII rifles. “Timney has been setting the bar in the trigger world for a very long time, and they’ve rolled that experience into a superior drop-in trigger for the AR-15 and AR-10 platform. Obviously precision matters greatly to us, and Timney’s reputation for quality and accuracy runs parallel to our mission as well” stated Curns. The GGP MKII Heavy .308 and the MKII Light 5.56 rifles built by Grey Ghost Precision will now feature Timney’s AR Competition Triggers in the straight, flat-faced configuration. Each trigger’s hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel, with the other components EDM cut from A2 tool steel, then heat treated to RC 56-60 for long service life. The S7 tool steel has a hardness to resist wear with superior impact resistance to withstand heavy use without chipping or breaking. The cherry on top is the precision-ground finishing that each engagement surface receives to ensure superb reliability and a crisp, clean hammer release.

GGP MKII Grim 6.5 Creedmoor

GGP MKII Grim 6.5 Creedmoor now with Timney 2 Stage Trigger

As for the PRS minded GGP MKII Grim 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, it will now come equipped with the Timney AR Targa 2 Stage trigger. This specialty straight trigger is tuned for a 2lb short first stage, followed by a 2lb second stage with a crisp break and a short, tactile reset that is consistent and clean. “We all know that consistency is conducive to accuracy, and these Timney Triggers are ideal for shooting the best groups you’ve ever patterned with a semi-auto rifle” says Curns.

The best news of all is this trigger upgrade hasn’t changed the MSRP of the GGP MKII rifles at all. The GGP Light 5.56 AR-15 has a retail of $1,899, while the Heavy .308 AR-10 is $2,500 and the Grim 6.5 Creedmoor is $3,099. Be sure to subscribe to the Grey Ghost Precision email list to be alerted as more product release as sales drop by the end of the year.

Manufactured using the newest material technology and processes, the EXDP556 magazines with their next-generation long glass fiber polymer construction offers the trifecta of perfection in structural performance: strength, durability, and stiffness. The stiffness allows the magazine to maintain its integrity without additional weight with an additional benefit of top performance even at elevated temperatures. The longer length reinforcing fibers produce increased strength and prevents deformation and polymer fatigue. Additionally, the Extreme Duty 5.56 magazine offers increased durability through a more efficient energy transfer between the polymer and the longer fiber filaments during an impact. A long-life USGI-Spec stainless steel spring is corrosion resistant. The four-way, anti-tilt, self-lubricating follower keeps the rounds aligned and makes mag feeding consistent and reliable, while virtually eliminating jambs.

Confidence in handling the Extreme Duty 5.56 magazines are a piece of cake, even during weather or duress. The front and rear of the gripping surface is ribbed for a positive grip, even with gloves. An oversized bolt-catch provides enhanced reliability of the bolt catch operation. The flared floor plate allows for an easier grip in handling and extraction and one-hand reloads. Wrapping up the multiple benefits to the EXDP556 is a paint dox matrix to allow for easy marking and identification of magazines and the tool-less disassembly with the double floor plate safety release tabs.

Mission First Tactical Decorated Extreme Duty 5.56 Polymer magazines are built for hard shooting and extreme treatment and shooting conditions and come with a Lifetime Warranty.

Right! Sergeant Major, Marching Up And Down The Square

November 4th, 2019

It never fails to entertain

SERGEANT MAJOR: Don’t stand there gawping like you’ve never seen the Hand of God before! Now, today, we’re going to do marching up and down the square! That is, unless any of you got anything better to do. Well?! Anyone got anything they’d rather be doing than marching up and down the square?! Yes?! Atkinson. What would you…rather be doing, Atkinson?

ATKINSON: Well, to be quite honest, Sarge, I’d… rather be at home with the wife and kids.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Would you, now?!

ATKINSON: Yes, Sarge.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Right! Off you go! Now, everybody else happy with my little plan… of marching up and down the square a bit?

COLES: Sarge!

SERGEANT MAJOR: Yes?!

COLES: I’ve got a book I’d quite like to read.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Right! You go read your book, then! Now! Everybody else… quite content to join in… with my little scheme of marching up and down the square?!

WYCLIF: Sarge?

SERGEANT MAJOR: Yes, Wyclif?! What is it?!

WYCLIF: Well, I’m, uh, learning the piano.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Learning the piano?!

WYCLIF: Yes, Sarge.

SERGEANT MAJOR: And I suppose you want to go and practice, eh? Marching up and down the square not good enough for you, eh?!

WYCLIF: Well,–

SERGEANT MAJOR: Right! Off you go!

WYCLIF: Oh.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Now! What about the rest of you? Rather be at the pictures, I suppose.

SQUAD: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ooh, yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Right.

SERGEANT MAJOR: All right! Off you go!

SQUAD: Oh. Ooh. Great. That’s great. What a day. I want to see the Merle Oberon picture. Eh hehheh.

SERGEANT MAJOR: Bloody army! I don’t know what it’s coming to. Right! Sergeant Major, marching up and down the square. Left, right, left. Left…

NARRATOR #1: Democracy and humanitarianism have always been trademarks of the British Army…

SERGEANT MAJOR: Rubbish!

NARRATOR #1: Shh! …And have stamped its triumph throughout history, in the furthest-flung corners of the Empire,…
[mayhem]
…but, no matter where or when there was fighting to be done,…
[patriotic music]
…it has always been the calm leadership of the Officer class that has made the British Army what it is.
