More On The Netherlands Fractal Pattern

January 30th, 2017

We recently mentioned the Dutch Arm’s Smart Tactical Vest which featured the equipment variant of the Netherlands Fractal Pattern.

Not long ago, there was a meeting where testing of new C4I and personal equipment was discussed. A platoon had tested the equipment (from Elbit and Marom Dolphin) and direct feedback was offered, along with the opportunity to ask questions directly from the program lead and business representatives.

There was a mix of the woodland and desert versions of NFP on hand. Noteworthy, is that some of the armored vests incorporated the T-belt system which acts as a spine, transfering the weight of the vest to the hips. It was mentioned that this system will probably be issued. Also, a backpack included a hinge system allowing it to use the hip belt while carrying an armored vest.

Apocalypse Now: The Video Game On Kickstarter

    January 29th, 2017

Erebus LLC has set up a Kickstarter campaign for a video game adaption of Apocalypse Now. The dev team, which is composed of industry veterans who have developed for titles such as Fallout: New Vegas, Wasteland 2, and Far Cry will be lending their talents towards adapting Apocalypse Now into a psychological horror game with RPG elements, encouraging stealth and resource management over run-and-gun gameplay, and allowing the player to develop Captain Willard to suit their playstyle.

While it can certainly be a daunting task to try and adapt Apocalypse Now into a functioning, and more importantly enjoyable, video game, on paper, at least, it seems the dev team is taking a pretty decent attempt at adapting the property into an interactive media.

In order to put bullets on targets fast and accurate we need to see and process information fast. This is visual processing speed exercise and eye agility exercise. Gear Modifications in Vietnam

    January 28th, 2017

I wanted to share these two photos of MG Ken Bowra when he was a 1LT serving in MACV-SOG’s CCN (TF1AE), in 1971 l, as the Reconnaissance Team Leader (One-Zero) of Recon Teams Idaho and Sidewinder. He wore an AK chest rig during missions and also sewed pockets on to the sleeves of his ERDL jungle fatigues.

These wartime mods were replicated by individuals  and small units from the war, up into the early 00s, but eventually became standard.
