Warrior Expo – Aimpoint

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

The FCS 12 Fire Control System was developed about 13 years ago for use with the Carl Gustav 84mm but it’s starting to gain some steam for use with additional weapon systems such as the Mk 19.  This flexibility means you can have one sight solution for use with multiple weapons.

It incorporates a reflex sight, ballistic computer and laser range finder into a single package.  It is user configurable and provides precision targeting for the weapon it is attached to.  In addition to weapon system, the user selects ammunition type and selects a target to engage.  The FCS 12 then selects offers a disturbed reticle for successful engagement.

Warrior West – Massif

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

We recently wrote about the new Army Combat Shirt – Type II created specifically for use with the Soldier Plate Carrier System.  Many readers seemed displeased with that Army directed design and mentioned several attributes they’d like to see in an improved design.  Massif is already one step ahead of you with their new Advanced 1/4 Zip Combat Shirt (FR).

This commercially available FR combat shirt incorporates a 1/4 zip polo style collar along with increased printed FR fabric that extends down the aide of the garment to increase camouflage. Additionally, the SuperFabric elbows will accept padding.

Offered in Black, OD and MultiCam sizes XS – XXXL.

Warrior West – Lancer One-Piece Adaptive Magwell

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Last Fall, I visited Lancer’s facility in Quakertown, Pennsylvania and of the numerous products they showe me, my favorite was the Adaptive Magwell because it is a relatively low cost add-on that makes it easier to change magazines on the AR platform due to its flare that funnels the magazine into the Magwell.  Like it or not, the U.S. Military is going to stick with the M16 lower receiver for the foreseeable future.  Because the lower is the gun, we can’t change its gemoetry.  But, the Magwell Adapter allows you to enlarge and bevel the Magwell of virtually any mil-spec M16-style lower.

The one-piece is a modification of the original, commercially offered two-piece version that the U.S. Army expressed interest in.  It comes with two silicone gaskets that are used while mounting the adapter in Oder to take any play out of the fit.  You use the one that fits better.
The Magwell Adapter is held fast by clipping into the trigger guard which is opened with the use of a cartridge tip.  The Magwell Adapter incorporates an alternate attachment for the trigger guard which also serves to open the trigger area up a bit for those wearing hand wear.

Once again, this modification to an AR lower requires no permanent alterations to the weapon and makes it easier to accomplish magazine changes.
