November 21st, 2019

NEW BEDFORD, MA, ISSUED NOVEMBER 19, 2019…NFI Corp. (www.nficorp.com), the global leader in high performing printed graphic solutions, recently celebrated reaching the 1,000 days of safety mark with a celebration, held at the company on Friday, November 15.

Renaud Megard, president and CEO of NFI Corp., talked about how the company reached this milestone by putting policies in place that stress the importance of safety in every action employees take, and in reminding them to “Think first, then do.”  New standard equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, were provided for everyone, and an employee Safety Commission was formed, to ensure continued communication regarding safety.  Mark Smith, NFI Corp.’s site manager, and Fred Branquinho, plant engineer, spearheaded many of the safety initiatives.

The official 1,000-day-milestone was achieved on November 12, 2019, dating back almost three years since the last safety incident.  Throughout this time, the company has also achieved a great deal of growth.  Just this past summer, NFI Corp. was named to the Inc. 5000 list (#2,442), one of Boston Business Journal’s “Fast 50” (#23), and the fastest-growing company in the $5 million to $25 million category by Providence Business News.

During the celebration, Megard shared stories of employees recounting how their emphasis on safety in the workplace has spilled over to paying more attention to safety at home, especially when working on improvement projects or general home maintenance.  He accepted a citation from New Bedford City Councilors Linda Morad and Brad Markey, who congratulated the employees of NFI Corp. on their accomplishment, as well as one from State Representative Antonio Cabral.  Additionally, members of the New Bedford Police Department were on hand to learn more about the current safety policies in place and make additional safety recommendations.

“I am so proud of the NFI team for this accomplishment,” said Megard.  “We couldn’t have done it without everyone committing themselves to this effort.  Each person’s individual actions have kept all of us safe, and we are grateful that the idea of safety is one that all of our employees have embraced.  We look forward to continuing to celebrate more safety milestones over the days and years ahead!”

Milipol 19 – NFM Introduces GENTO Duty Belt

November 21st, 2019

The new GENTO Duty Belt from Norway’s NFM is designed primarily for LE.

The idea behind GENTO was that Law Enforcement officers generally have to choose between comfort and stability of their load which is born primarily on the duty belt. By introducing polymer into the equation, they could make the belt much thinner and yet retain rigidity.

Additionally, GENTO offers lumbar support. That large module at the back not only increases stability but it houses an adjustment system which allows the wearer to loosen or tighten the belt from the rear.

Here you can see the adjustments on either side of the rear of GENTO.

Additionally, you can configure different rear panels if the need arises.

Additionally, duty gear can be fitted to the belt and stabilized in place with Velcro fittings so they won’t slide around.

Milipol 19 – Schuberth Laser Protection

November 21st, 2019

Law Enforcement officers are increasingly coming under attack from lasers, inflicting injuries that many don’t even know they have. Schuberth has developed a laser protective lense cassette that goes ontop of the existing P100N riotcontrol helmet without compromising protection against threats like blunt trauma, penetration, chemicals and fire.

Response time is key with laser threats. Regular laser protection glasses have to be retrieved from a pouch first. The SCHUBERTH solution is ready to be deployed even with gloves hands and will cause no pressure points on the temples.

With lasers being used mostly in the night it is equally important to get the protection out of the way when the threat is gone.

Unlike laser protective glasses it can be used with a respirator and with the helmet’s visor closed or open.

Global armour manufacturer, NP Aerospace, has extended its LASA Lightweight Armoured Soldier Architecture portfolio with the launch of new ballistic shields for tactical operations.

The second generation shields range provides ballistic multi-hit protection for high risk tactical teams to NIJ Level III+ special threats. A range of sizes and designs are available with or without viewports and weapon rests, providing optimum manoeuvrability in challenging environments. Lighting and camera systems can be fitted to offer additional flexibility.

The tactical cut variant (pictured above) is being launched at this week’s Milipol Homeland Security event in Paris from 19-22 November. The shield is designed in response to end user demand for enhanced ergonomics, user flexibility and overall weight reduction in addition to protection against 7.62mm and 5.56 rifle ball rounds and hand guns.

New design features include ladder rails and rugged corner protectors to enable the shield to be used at different angles or as a ramp. Each shield has a radius curve allowing it to fit more closely to the body, and attachment points to allow weapons to be added.

James Kempston, CEO, NP Aerospace, comments: “Rising global terror threats are driving defence and security manufacturers to introduce new design innovations which deliver greater value for both end users and procurement teams. Through our continued close engagement with special forces operations and law enforcement agencies we are seeing increased demand for modular products which allow integration with other systems and adjustment to fit different body sizes, as it enables defence spending to be optimised. Our new shields are designed to deliver the highest level of protection combined with flexible operator features to allow use in the widest range of tactical scenarios.”

The new NP Aerospace second generation shield range is designed for rugged operations and includes lightweight ballistic composite handle systems for single handed and dual operations. There are two main variants in the range – Generation 2 Shields which come in three sizes and the Tactical Cut shield which is available in two sizes. All products in the range are now available to order.
