Blackhawk! at SHOT Show

Friday, January 14th, 2011

We received Blackhawk!’s 2011 catalog a couple of weeks ago and to be honest, we are impressed. It’s hard to believe that they are able to introduce as many products as they do, year after year.

One of the products we are happy to see hitting the streets this time around is the High Performance Fighting Uniform (HPFUâ„¢). BLACKHAWK! is now offering a version of it without their patented I.T.S. â„¢ (Integrated Tourniquet System) called the HPFU Slick. This woks out great for those who don’t need the added security of tourniquets day-to-day.

Additionally, they are offering an updated version of the standard HPFU with a more streamlined I.T.S. ™. A single tourniquet is pre-positioned in the axillary area of each arm and the apex of the thigh of each leg for immediate activation by self or buddy-aid to stem blood loss in an emergency. Both are available in Black, Olive Drab, Desert Digital, and MultiCam® (yep, Blachawk is on the MultiCam wagon big time).

In addition to the HPFUs look for new athletic wear, station house uniforms for fire and EMS, clothing, updated versions of popular clothing designs and a whole slew of nylon gear.

Magnum to Release MultiCam Boots at SHOT Show

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Magnum is definitely a favored brand of the British armed forces who adopted a MultiCam variant called Multi-Terrain Pattern developed specifically for them by Crye Precision. MTP is restricted to the UK MoD but MultiCam isn’t and due to the matching colorways, it blends right in. As we reported last September Magnum has developed two new boots in the MultiCam pattern. Unfortunately at the time we were unable to take any photos but here you can see that Magnum went to painstaking detail to manufacture a MultiCam boot that also integrated a camouflage sole. Oddly enough, when our Editor worked with the Australians in Kuwait in 98 some of them had Taipan boots with camo soles. Apparently, they had noted that their troops stuck out while in the prone due to their solid colored soles but the project was just a one off and didn’t go anywhere. Interestingly, the Canadians looked at camo soles recently and found that the enhancement made no discernible improvement in the Soldier’s signature.

At any rate, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some serious interest in these across the Pond. In fact, one of Magnum’s advisors on the project is a former Royal Marine Both the Sidewinder and Spider are impressive and include the ion-maskâ„¢ hydrophobic surface enhancement which essentially shrink wraps the entire boot so that it cannot absorb moisture into the materials.

The Sidewinder includes printed suede patches and looks to be the heavier of the two.

The Spider is one helluva boot combining numerous special touches such as a patch of super fabric to mitigate wear and tear on the boot during fast roping as well as a Tec-Tuff leather toeguard, Vent-Guardâ„¢ sandproof ventilator technology, and TPU exoframe reinforcement for increased stability.

Check them out in booth #11164.

Nelson Paint Company, in business since 1940, is introducing two new less lethal and tactical products and as well as their line of camouflage paints at this year’s SHOT Show.

Deter-It Less-Lethal Projectiles deliver a shot of kinetic energy to a suspect or animal to compel deterrence of undesired behavior without penetration or serious injury at a fraction of the cost of other less-lethal projectiles . They can be used with any standard .68 caliber paintball gun.

First Photos of the C4Grip from Silynx

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

We’ve already told you where to see Silynx at SHOT Show (booth #5100) and yes, it looks to be tucked back in a corner so be vigilant and make sure you find it because once you are there you will be able to see the new C4Grip.

Silynx kept telling us that they had something unexpected coming and this is certainly it. This thing really took us by surprise. They have not only integrated a wireless push-to-talk as well as controls for an ATPIAL and weapons light into the grip but have also made it somewhat modular, promising the ability to swap out grips for color and shape. Additionally, they are offering some pimpage in the form of laser engraving on the grip. Last but certainly not least, the grip is hollow and features a removable folding knife.
